DEEP PURPLE Bassist Contributes Artwork To German Heavy Metal Magazine
September 28, 2004DEEP PURPLE bassist Roger Glover has designed the cover of the new issue of Germany's Underground Empire magazine. The artwork can be viewed at this location.
Commented Underground Empire editor Stefan Glas: "As a little tribute to the good old printed fanzine times, Underground Empire uses in its online version still covers. Already as an printed zine we preferred to use great pieces of art rather than boring band pictures on the cover.
"We are happy and proud to say that the cover artwork of our current online issue was done by DEEP PURPLE bass player Roger Glover. I guess everybody knows that Roger is an excellent musician as well as a very intelligent and charming person, but I am not sure if everybody is aware that he is also a very talented painter since his youth days.
"In any case, he gave us the permission to use his painting 'Scottish Castle' from 1974 as our cover, which you can see when you enter our site at www.underground-empire.com. If you or the BLABBERMOUTH-readers are interested in more of Roger's art, they can find a fine art gallery at his homepage [at this location].
"In the past Underground Empire already had artists like Mattias Norén (known for his work for countless acts like EVERGREY, ARENA or STRATOVARIUS singer Timo Kotipelto),Thomas Ewerhard (SPOCK'S BEARD, FLOTSAM & JETSAM, DEW-SCENTED, etc.) or Marc Sasso (DIO, CAGE, etc.) contributing their work to our site. You can still see all our covers by clicking the 'History' button on the left and you will get bigger versions by clicking each cover."
